"Children are born with a sense of wonder and an affinity for Nature.  Properly cultivated, these values can mature into ecological literacy, and eventually into sustainable patterns of living."

Annual Spring Picnic Party and Silent Auction!

Beaverwood Picnic Site,

Joaquin Miller Park

Oakland, CA

Saturday April 27th
12:30 - 2:30pm

Come celebrate Spring with us! We'll have face-painting, crafts, bubbles, a song circle, and a fired-up grill to help greet the season in style. We’ll also have opportunities to bid on exciting experiences and items in our Spring Silent Auction!

If you are a current family or prospective family or just friends with anyone involved, you are welcome to join us! Bring something to grill (we'll have hot dogs, not dogs and snacks to share too), a blanket to sit on, warm clothes (it can be cold in the redwoods), and be sure to dress your children in clothes that can get properly dirty! You may want to bring a change of clothes too as the creek is often running and any good party includes creek wading.

Please RSVP at our Evite so we can have a sense for how many snacks to bring.

Look forward to seeing you in the forest!

Celebrating Fatherhood

Annual Workshop

Esalen Institute

Big Sur, CA

June 14-16, 2019

Joanna & Vinny Ferraro

Inspired by Big Sur's wild nature and the heartfelt path of fatherhood this will be a weekend of laughter, exploration and connection. There will be stories around the campfire, games, discussion and time for all to be nourished by Esalen's healing land and waters. We will use Esalen's Gazebo Park School, designed for children to climb, bike, garden, make music, dance, and care for farm animals, as well as the art barn and Esalen's extraordinary and expansive grounds. Whether you have been coming to Esalen for decades or are curious to come for the first time, join us for this special Father's Day experience. Saturday afternoon, we will offer a children's program , during which adults will be free to book a massage, enjoy some solitude or spend time with one another. This program is ideal for families with young child up to age 10. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
